Your website is the digital front door. It should work like one.
A healthcare website is where patients decide whether to trust you enough to call, and where AI search decides whether to recommend you at all. We build and rebuild healthcare websites as structured, fast, accessible digital front doors, not as brochures, with search and answer-engine visibility built in rather than added after launch.
The digital front door has to work for two audiences that never meet
A patient researching a procedure and an AI answer engine summarizing that same page for someone who never visits it are reading the same content differently. The patient wants a clear answer, real information about what to expect and an obvious next step. The answer engine wants a direct, well-structured answer it can lift and quote. A site built for one and not the other fails half its job. We build for both from the same page.
That means answer-first content, plain headings, consistent structured data and a site architecture where every page reaches a way to take the next step in one click, whether that step is scheduling, a consult request or a specific service line.
What "built as a digital front door" actually includes
Information architecture
Built around how patients actually search, not how the organization is structured internally. A service line page, a condition page and a location page are different jobs and need different structures.
Technical health
Page speed, mobile performance, clean metadata and structured data (schema) so search engines and AI answer engines can parse the page correctly. Hoag's rebuild included more than 5,000 sitewide meta and title changes and 3,600 pages quality-checked, the kind of unglamorous technical work that moves search visibility more than any single piece of new content.
Accessibility.
A site that does not work with a screen reader or has poor contrast can turn patients away before they read a word. We treat accessible experiences as a build requirement here, not an add-on.
Content depth that earns trust.
Hoag's condition pages average 1,300 words because a thin page does not answer a real patient question and does not get selected as a source by an answer engine. Depth done well, not padding.
HIPAA-aware form and data handling.
Every form that collects any personal information is built not to collect patient information it does not need, and every form states plainly that patient information should not be included in the form itself.
What changes when the front door works
Hoag's site quality score moved from 61 to 97.5. Organic clicks increased 428%, impressions 246% and AI Overview page traffic increased 22 times year over year. Organic search now accounts for 41% of site traffic. In one quarter, organic search alone produced 180 qualified leads for a single service line.
None of that came from a redesign for its own sake. It came from treating the website as infrastructure that has to perform, not a project that ends at launch.
Common questions
How long does a healthcare website rebuild take?
It depends on scope, from a focused service-line rebuild to a full site. We scope timeline and phasing during a Visibility Assessment or Capacity and Demand Audit before any build work starts, so there are no surprises once work begins.
Will this hurt our search rankings during the transition?
A rebuild done without a migration plan can cost rankings. We build a redirect and technical migration plan before launch specifically to protect what the current site already earns in search.
Do you build the site or just the strategy?
Both. We do the information architecture, the content, the technical build and the ongoing optimization. It's the same team from strategy through launch.
